What the RoomPanel does at the meeting room door

The RoomPanel is a compact all-in-one panel built to sit beside a meeting room entrance. Its 8-inch touchscreen shows the current booking, lets staff reserve a free room on the spot, and displays the next available time. Full-RGB LED bars show the room status from a distance, so people can judge availability before they reach the door. The standard edition works with Yealink's Workspace Management Platform as well as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and several third-party meeting platforms.

Hardware facts that shape the purchase

The display is an 8-inch LCD in a 16:10 format with a 1280x800 resolution and 1000:1 contrast. Its 10-point capacitive touch surface has an anti-fingerprint coating, and ambient light and proximity sensors adjust brightness and wake the screen. Connectivity covers one Fast Ethernet port (10/100 Mbps), 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 13.56 MHz NFC/RFID and one USB-C port. Two array microphones and two speakers are built in. The unit draws power from PoE under IEEE 802.3af or from a 12 V power adapter. Its display measures 209 x 146 mm and the unit weighs 0.53 kg.

For network access, the panel supports 802.1x authentication with EAP-MD5, EAP-TLS, EAP-PEAP/MSCHAPv2 and EAP-TTLS/EAP-MSCHAPv2, which matters for organisations that control devices through their network.

Where it fits in Qatar

• Government ministry in West Bay: several boardrooms along one executive corridor, where staff need to see which room is free before walking down from the lift lobby.

Planning the mounting, power and environment

Mount the panel at about 1.4 m, the height the manufacturer gives for its body sensor to detect people reliably. Detection is under 0.8 m with a vertical mount and under 0.7 m with a 20 degree tilt bracket, within a 20 degree angle either side. Mounting options are a surface mount onto a 2-gang US electrical box, a 20 degree tilt kit for walls or glass, and a flush mount kit. The rated operating range is 0 to 40 degrees C and 10 to 95 percent humidity, non-condensing. In Qatar, that means indoor, air-conditioned locations, away from sun-facing glass, exterior walls and open entrances where summer heat exceeds 45 degrees C.

Discontinued model: what this means for your room booking

Yealink discontinued the RoomPanel with an end-of-sale date of 31 December 2024, and new orders are no longer accepted. Under the manufacturer's end-of-life policy, the first year after end-of-sale covers hardware and software technical support and security fixes. In years two to five, Yealink will attempt software bug fixes but will not add new features, and hardware spares depend on local distributor stock. Yealink names the RoomPanel E2 as its recommended replacement.
